So this isnt my first thread about my 2008 5.7 QC 4x4 having 4x4 isues. Back in January of 2011 I did a road trip to the great state of Texas with some buddies, AWSOME time by the way....on that trip somehow the transfer case motor for the 4x4 died forcing my to drive from Texas to Canada in 4x4 auto....

I got home and had it fixed under warranty which helped a lot. so about 3 days ago we got a snow dump, i put the truck into 4x4 headed down to Lowes for some supplied and when i pulled into the parking lot BAM this huge power surge and warning bells and lights and then the truck dies. I headed into the store, got the supplies fired the truck back up no issues took it out of 4x4 back to 2wd and headed home.

So today drove into some snow on my front lawn about 7inches worth.....put the truck into 4x4 and BAM power surge.....noises....bells.....flashing. Now im not able to get the truck out of 4x4.....i finally got the truck off the front lawn, up the drive.....i truned it off and then nothing.....truck wouldnt trun over nothing. So i messed with it for a bit moving between 4auto and 4lock and finally got it to turn over. So as it stands the truck might start with some fiddling with the 4x4 knob and ignition, it will not engage back to 2wd and i have thrown codes: C140D (transfercase motor) same as 2011, B2184 (ignition unlock runstart control circut low) and U0024 (can B bus circut open). I managed to get it to the dealership and hopefully they have something for me in the AM......God i hope this is a warranty issue.....again. Any thoughts would be helpful, its my daily vehicle.

So I got the truck back today, it cost me was $780.00 for a new TIPM and its going to cost me another $642.00 for my second 4x4 transfercase selctor motor......brutal......heres my question, not that the tipm has been replaced and it looks as if they truck was reflashed how will this affect my Superchips Tuner? will i have to mess with it to get it to work?

if you did not reset your truck to stock before bring it to the dealer and the changed your programing i hate to say it but i think your in for having your superchip programmer sent to superchips and having it reflashed as it is locked to you ecm and the old program that you installed . when you hook it up i think it will say something like pcm is locked or something . but that is what i am let to belive ! plug it in and see what happens ??

I think there web site says $100. When I needed mine unlocked I called them and thay did it for free. It will take about 20 minutes with it plugged into your computer and thay will walk you thru everything. Good luck

I still havent pluged it in yet.....i hope it doesnt mess the trucks computer. The dealer said that since i had the TIPM replaced and would need a new Transfercase motor, that if i use the 4x4 switch in the truck there is a very good chance that turning the 4x4 knob will throw the computer off and throw codes.

So over the weekend i found some spare time to plug the Superchips into the truck after having the TIPM replaced. To my supprise, no issues, everything seemed to work well. My question now is does anyone know the steps for replacing a 4x4 transfercase motor or where i can find a walk through. As far as install goes my only concern is the computer issues, or any that might take place.

cheers
