Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum. Glad to join and be a part of Dodge owners.
I have a 2004 Dodge Dakota Truck. It has automatic transmission. The engine is a V6 3.7 L. It is the Quad Cab version.
When I turn on the vehicle, white smoke comes out of the right side of the engine (passenger side). I don't know that it is. I've checked the following:
-There's no white smoke coming from the tailpipe.
- The engine oil is clean. Do not resemble chocolate. In other words, there is no coolant mixed with it.
- The anti-freeze/ coolant is clean. It is not mixed with engine oil.
- The vehicle is not overheating.
- The white smoke does not have a sweet smell.
When I turn off the vehicle, I can hear something sizzling on the right side of the engine. A friend told me that it might be the valve cover gasket that is leaking oil and the oil is hitting the hot exhaust pipe; therefore, the white smoke. I don't know if I should have done this, but I replaced the valve cover gasket. It was a pain, but I did it. Still, there is white smoke coming out of the right side.
Based on some of the information that I found on the Internet, it might be a blown head gasket, but my vehicle doesn't show the symptoms of a blown head gasket. I might be mistaken since I'm not a mechanic. I prefer to ask the experts (you all). Any advice?
Thanks.
