Is there any way to use the volume controls with an aftermarket CD player?

I just put in an aiwa CDC-MP3. For some dumb reason I assumed I would be able to use the controls on my steering wheel. Is there some way I can still use these for at least the volume?

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram with the infinity sound system.

Thanks in advance!

There is a kit that I had installed on my Grand Cherokee, your head unit has to have a infrared remote. The kit is a bitch to install, a bunch of wires. One problem that you might run in to is that you need to have a place for the wire that sends a signal to the radio. My Grand had a console and it was mounted there. When there was a cup in the cup holder of my Grand, it would not recieve the signal. Bottom line is this, I would not do it again.

That is why I stayed with the factory system and Factory Sirius radio.

this is the guy right here
pacific acessory corporation SWI-X
this will work with the dodge controls and any radio that has a infrared remote.
although you could mount the transmitter just about any where
the coolest installation i have seen is where it is mounted inside the overhead map lights right next to the map light bulb.
it is totally hidden by the clear lens.
