I decided to start a new thread for the steering issue that I'm having right now.
As most here know. My trip to Moab brought about a steering issue. My PW doesn't like to turn left most of the time. Turning right is fine, no problem there. When I'm stopped. I go to turn the wheel to the left. It goes a few degrees, then stops,or get really hard to turn. Then breaks free all of a sudden. Then I can continue turning left. Now, if I turn the wheel to the right alittle, then left. It will turn left. But I feel it dragging in the wheel.
Had the PW front off the ground today. Inspected everything. Everything is straight, nothing is bent, everything looks OK. Checked the play in the ball-joints. The left side measured 0.18", and the right side measured 0.23". Start the engine, and turn the wheel. The steering feels fine as long as the tires are off the ground. Put the tires on the ground, the problem comes back. The more I drive the PW. The less it's doing it. Talked to a friend of mine. Local Mopar hot shot. First thing out of his mouth was a tight axle u-joint or the steering box is bad. He give me a few tips on what to check. I'm going to do what he said later today. Also have a date with the dealer on Monday. The PW is still under warrt.
