When driving normal speeds down a road if one of my rear tires hits a pot hole the hole back ends seems to bounce side ways. Anyone have this problem or have a cure? Thanks in advance

Look into new shocks. Bilstein seems to make a good product. Monroe makes good ones as well.

Check your rear shocks. My truck was getting pretty bad at highway speeds so I swapped out my stockers for a set of Bilstein 5100's. They are definately worth the money.

Bilsteins would be great but they are 175 a shock here in Canada. Even if I order them from the usa they will cost at least that after broker fees and taxes.

$175 is pretty expensive. If you have about a half hour you could always remove your old rear shock. If you hold it in your hands and can compress the shock with your own strength then you probably need new ones. Yes, you can also check for leaks, but mine were not leaking when I replaced them. I do more highway driving then anything, so the money was well worth not bouncing into another lane. Here is a write up and some pics I posted in an earlier thread.

The Monroe Reflex shocks have worked very well for me and have helped quite a bit with that same issue. I put them on back in 2007 and pretty much forgot about them because they pretty much eliminated the issue.

Check and make sure your air pressure is not too high; that could cause all types of problems; then check the shocks.

Had the same problem. Bilsteins and over load delete fixed it. I got mine from shock ware house. The price was good, $275 or so for a set (4) but it took 3 months to get them.

Brent,

Try Monroe GAs Matics, they should be available at the auto parts store. Deleting the overloads, adding 2" drop shackles would also help. When all the weight is on the front end, the back does what it wants. My truck is way better than factory as far as ride.

Droping the rear might look funny on my truck since i have a leveling kit sitting here waiting for a nice day to install.

As others have said = shocks. This has always been an issue with these truck since they came out in 02. The overall design/weight distribution and the CRAPPY OE shocks cause it.

The ones I would look into would be...

Monroe Reflex/Rancho RSX( same basic shock - companies are the same - these 2 shocks use the same internal technology )
Bilstein
Edelbrock IAS

Also, if you have the 20" tire option that makes it even worse than the trucks with 17's. My 04 with the 17's was a pain on bumpy roads but the 08 with the 20's is a nightmare.

Another thing that will help a lot, and also help with leaning and the feeling the rear end is sliding on corners, is a rear sway bar.
