The top of the shock? The vent hose on my truck clips to the under-side of the bed but it close to the shock.

Hummm; I just don't remember the hose clipping to the support frame.

 

IMO, just cut thehose about 4" from the top end. Take to the auto parts store. Buy about 10' of the same inside dia hose, cut the 10' in half, take the ends/vents out & reinstall in the new hose end & rout them up much higher than stock. It is a fairly cheap mod, but worth it's weight in gold (actually oil) if you ever go deep---just once. In my younger wheeling days, a friend sunk the ass end of his truck after breaking through some ice. He never drained it & the next day his diff was cracked, because it filled up with water all the way before I got him out & temps dropped to 5 degrees that night. It was an expensive day for him.

Thanks for the replys. The picture and diagram are great. The Vent Tube was actually attached just like the picture. After seeing it in color, I remember seeing the vent before I started impact driving the bolt because it was stuck. My neighbors were real happy with me at 9:30 last night, but it is off and the new shocks are on.

The issue I had was that I did not see the hose until it was laying loose on the axle, so I had nothing to reference to how it routed back up to the upper shock mount. It is a little unnerving that the vent tube connects to the axle the the clips to the upper shock mount and has no support in between. I am sure there is a lot of movement when driving and that will mean a failure at some point. Guess this will go on the periodic maintenance schedule to check for cracks or failures.
