I just bought a (new to me) 99 durango slt auto, pt4wd , 5.2l w/no mods yet and 57k miles. The truck seems to be pretty basicly optioned. (no leather, no overhead console, no tow kit.)

Ok my first question is kind of stupid so let me just add this one satement in my defence I didnt get any manuals with my truck.

How do I properly shift into 4wd mode?

Thanks
Mike

First, WELCOME to dodgetalk. You should be able to find answers to just about any questions you have here. I don't know much about the durangos but is it shift on the fly? Does it have hubs? I would think its like my 97 jeep was, i always came to a stop, then just put the shifter into either 4hi or 4lo and off you went. To get it out of 4x4 if i remember correctly i had to after disengaging the transfer case back up a couple of feet to make sure it was disengaged.

:metoo: welcome to DT. I have a 99 SLT+ 4X4 durango and that's basically it.

Welcome and congrats. To go to low, come to a stop, shift to neutral, then shift to low on your transfer case. It's the same to get out, stop, neutral, shift out. I had a 99. I unfortunately totaled it. I liked it better than my 01.
