Key remote unlock & lock weak signal?..

Got a 2009 ram 1500 about a week ago and have started to notice if I'm not sorta pointing the key at my truck sometimes the lock/unlock functions on the key don't work.. or I have to hold down the button for like 2 seconds before i hear it click..

and sometimes I'll be pressing the unlock button as I walk to my truck just to test it out to see if it's unlocked by the time I get there but sometimes it STILL has not unlocked, until I sit there and essentially 'point' it towards the truck and hold the unlock button for a second or 2..

Am I doing something wrong or is this how they all are?

edit: It's been like this since I got the truck, I'm just now starting to think about it though.

I've noticed sometimes mine wouldn't unlock even when standing next to it... but if I hi the lock button and then unlock again, it'd unlock.

Welcome to the party pal. I haven't been able to figure it out, yet.

This has worked for me...1st go into the EVIC mode and change the lock sequence to unlock all 4 doors with one FOB push, then lock and unlock the truck a few times. Then switch it back. This has helped me 100%. I have noticed that when I'm near a business with automatic door openers that they interfere with the remote controller a bit. :secret2:

here is trick I learned from a T.V. show and yes it might sound crazy but it does work. Hold the key fob to your chin while pushing the button, your head will act as an antenna. I always use this when it rains to make sure my doors are unlocked when I get to the truck

It's not so much that your head acts as an antenna... but that you're now making your body an antenna by doing so.

And yes... it works. I've used this trick for years.

I was having same issues as the first post.I tried my OTHER FOB that was new/unused.Works like it did when I drove the truck home new. Then I remember when I ran a Cadillac service dept.I had service writers always taking customers Fobs apart to clean the switch contacts for the same reason.I have not taken my first FOB apart to clean it yet but I will.Been using my UNUSED Fob for a week now and its worked every time just like the OTHER one did when new.Its going to be a CHRONIC problem with these Fobs.Wish I just had a KEY.

All the voodoo fixes in the world are not going to solve this problem. Mine has been doing it for the last year. It gets worse when I lock it after driving for long distances. The stealer just shakes his head and says that they can't "re-create" the problem. Dodge has a problem here and they won't admit it.

Try a fresh FOB.Tell dealer to warranty yours and see if a new one corrects the problem.I just knew my was the truck and not the Fob.But using the new one is just like the minute I drove it off the lot.I was having every symptom you are describing.
