i bought a 3rd gen 2003 ram 3500 488ci. v10 new in 03 and couldnt have asked for a better truck. from what i understand, there arent many 3rd gen rams out there and parts, as far as performance goes, are hard to find. i want to see how strong i can get this v10 without losing reliability. how do you v10 guys like your trucks and what performance upgrades such as cams, heads, rockers, exhaust, chips, etc.have you added that are availible and make good power?

Hey Nice truck, I wasnt impressed with stock power when I drove them, you gotta do the programmer for sure the compression ratio is 8 to 1 and thats why its on the slow side for its size.

no dissapointments with the power this v10 puts out. it pulls hard and accelerates quick with no sluggishness. im just at that stage where i want more power to play with and do some cool mods. the diesel guys have anything they want through the aftermarket... wish it were the same for us v10 guys.

Viper parts are go fast goodies. I don't think he wants to build a top end performer. In doing so, you will lose the low end grunt that these truck motors were built for. That kind of negates the reason for buying a big motored dually, that is obviously for hauling of some sorts.
The only mods that really exist are the throttle bodies, air filter kits, custom cams, headers, custom head work, and I think there is a tuner/chip or two out there for them.
There's a list of available stuff just for the V10 on this site somewhere, just do a search.

I haven't "really" felt any of the mods I did. I could tell at the track 1/4 mile and 0-60 times it changed. The headers were probably my worst choice. If I bought a name brand it probably would have made a difference.
I think the only thing different between the 3g and 2g ram V10 is where the intake is routed.

Sweet truck! They only built a few hundred V10 Rams in 2003, mostly 2500's, so depending on options, your 3500 could be 1 of 1.

Your 3rd gen air intake looks better than the 1st gen, at least it's already routed to the same side as the K&N kit.

My suggestion is a Fastman TB, all you have to do is compare them side by side and you'll see why :D
