highbeam wire to turn on aux driving lights

Sorry to not search through..tried to go through the above Hella post but wow too long....

I have an 03 hemi, put ITP 130w driving lights on a homemade bull bar. Wired them with a relay with a switch to the cab. I would also like to include the ability to keep the switch so they are on or off, but also add in that I can use my highbeam switch to turn them on or off rather than reaching down to my main switch......don't have a clue how to do this or what wire would control the hi/low beams.
Thanks!

Your switch in the cab controls the ITP relay under the hood correct? If so, all you have to do is put your headlight sw in parallel. Basically, your high-beam power wire will also be connected to your ITP relay as the trigger wire. so either power from the sw or power from the high-beam will trigger the relay. You'll need a diode on the high-beam to keep power from going back to the headlight when using the sw. Somebody as done this already but your right, it's a bitch to find. Check this thread, page 25, towards the top. jeffb's schematic in a PDF also on that page is what you want.

Is there an actual trigger wire that sends a signal to the light to make it high beam and if so where is it and what colour is it. This would be the best wire to tap into to send the signal to the relay to turn on the auxliary lights on/off with the high beams. Does anyone know what it is and where. I have daytime running lights and just want to make sure i hook this up right.

I tapped into my headlight wires for my Hella's. I took out the drivers side headlight and there are 3 wires coming from it. It is one of the two wires with a stripe running around it. I'm sorry I can't remember exactly which one it was, but that gets you a little closer anyway. I have an '03 the wires may be different colors for different years.

What is the diode for? I didn't use one and my lights work just fine.

what are the specs on this diode? Does it need soldered inline with the high beam trigger wire? Thanks.
