Does Bodylift Affect Gas Mileage?

I Really Want To Add A Body Lift To My 6 Icnh Lift But I Dont Need To Waste More Gas Than I Already Do. So My Question Is Will I Waste More Gas With The More Air Resistance. Little Fyi I Am Currently Running 37/14.5/20 With 4.56. I Was Contemplaiting On Either Going Down To A 35/20 With The Body Lift Added, Or Going To A 17 Inch Rim With 37 For A Lil Less Rolling Mass. Any Help Would Be Appreciated. Thanks

It shouldn't since your not adding anymore stress to the engine like larger tire size

I'm going against the grain here and say that I think it will

and here's why - (and if this thinking is screwed up, feel free to tell me why ...)

Race car / NASCAR kinda vehicles are low to the ground = better aerodynamics and I would think a vehicle higher off the ground would be less aerodynamic ...

more resistance seems to me like it would affect gas mileage ...

might not be a lot, but ....

just thinking out loud

you have a good point and are correct in saying a lowered car has better gas mileage but with 37" tires and 6" lift ..... I doubt it could get any worse and if it did he would probably only see maybe 1 or 2 mile's less a gallon I am guessing here.

well sometimes i do alot of city driving, but most the time i do highway driving. If I am lucky and watch my driving I will get around 275 miles out of my 26 gallon tank. to top it off on windy days i can really feel the wind drag but thats with out opening up the throttle on the highway to avoid gas consumption and i figured with a 3 inch gap between the frame it wouldnt get any better. so i was thinking on going with the body lift and down to a 35 to ease the gas consumption.

i doubt you are gonna see that much of a change dropping from 37's to 35's unless the 35's are an all terrain type tread and will cause less drag.

I am baffled at the fact we jack it up, bigger tires and such yet we are still worried about "Gas Mileage" if your going to go higher I'd worry about braking capability due to your hight center of gravity.
