Can't get my spare tire lowered!! Need help!

Okay, flat tire. Took out jack and tools. Put the extenders together. Slide up into rod that lowers spare tire and nothing happens. Is there an extra end that needs to be put on the extenders? I looked up into the hole and there really isn't anything for the extender to lock onto to make it turn! Brute force is doing nothing. I can see with my flashlight that the pulley isn't turning!

So for those of you who have taken your spares off, how do you do it???

thanks!

The oddball looking extender piece goes on 1st. The end on it should grab inside the hole and turn stuff for ya'
You have 5 pieces right?
4 straight ones and the lug-wrench/crank handle.

Here's what it looks like on the inside:

Is that what yours looks like??

Here's the tools:

Which one goes up inside? None seem to attach to the star-like thing on the inside. Nothing makes it turn. I can see a Kotter Key up near the hoist thu the spare tire and it hasn't turned at all.

Found out what was wrong with my tire! Someone slashed it! :VHOT:

Looks like you have the Mopar spare tire lock installed. You need the star key at the end of the rod to make it work. If you don't have the paper work to get the replacement, good luck. Did you buy the truck new or used? Might be able to track it down through the dealer. Maybe.

Okay, makes sense. Seems like there is something in the glove box that might work!! Thanks!

Nope, it's the old part in the glove box, no new connector. I can see from the paperwork that i'm missing a piece!

okay, I see the problem......
the 3 extensions on the bottom of the pic are all the same.
One of them should be different.
It should have a small almost hooked end (not like the other one upper right) that goes into the hole in the 1st pic.

Long story short someone messed up at the factory.......

I'll try to get you a pic of what you should have had.

PS- sorry about the tire...that sucks!

yes you have the spare tire key that hooks on the end of the extenders. if you dont have one, try the dealership.

You might have already tried this and I may be an idiot but, can you fit a deep socket on it? I can't tell if yours is different than mine but since I installed my rollpan I can't use the OEM tool anymore. I had to find a socket that would grip well enough and use an extension :dunno:

Well, can't find the piece anywhere in the vehicle. Here's what I need:

So i'll have to head to the stealership!
Bingo. I think they might be different, tho, and have certain serial numbers, like Gorilla Lug Locks.

I have one myself. I had to buy it separate when I bought the truck (should be complimentary). :VHOT: And there should have been paperwork with a serial number to order another in case you lost the key. Did you search the truck to see if maybe it was just misplaced somewhere?
