So the check engine light came on on my 08 1500 hemi with 68k miles on it and the code that came up said that it had low oil pressure. I took it to jiffy lube and the guy said that they it was about half a quart low and there was no apparent leak. I had just gotten my oil changed at the same place less than 2 months ago and he said that it might have been a wrong filter and that it wasnt a big deal so they changed the oil and filter and said to bring it back if it comes back on. well thats reassuring! has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas what it could be?

If I'm not mistaken starting in 08 the oil filter threads changed size from previous 02-07 filters. Maybe they screwed on the wrong filter and some oil leaked out. Regardless, reason number 672 not to ever trust drive thru jiffy lube places.

What he said. Never, but NEVER even let Jiffy Lube clean the windshield. 1/2 a quart wouldn't cause a serious low-pressure situation. Good chance they didn't use the proper oil (or didn't change it at all).

Upadte after further research, In 08 Chrysler switched from a 3/4" SAE thread filter to a M22 X1.5 thread filter.* Not sure if that is the problem or not but good info just the same.

Big time.

There really should be a PSA on those drive through oil change places..

My 05 Ram quad cab Daytona (36,000 Miles) was giving me a low oil pressure code and I found out my battery was going out. changed battery, cleared it and never had a problem again, that was 1500 miles ago.:rck:

This is exactly the reason I change my own oil.

You got some good advice but I will tell you whats actually wrong. Half a quart low will not cause a drop in oil pressure. The previous filter that was used until 06 will not scew onto your oil filter adapter so that isn't possible. Wrong oil will set a different code "incorrect engine oil type." Your problem can be solved with a flash update to your pcm. Most dealerships will flash it for around $100. Hope this helps.

With my new Fumoto valve, I can change my oil and filter in about 10 minutes now.
