My average with about 50/50 highway and local driving is 16 depending on foot weight.

WOW that 4.7...With my 5.2, I'm getting liek 8.0 MPG but I primarly drive street 3 miles wach way....not much hwy at all....

around town 10.5 to 11. It's a real fast 10.5 so it doesn't matter much. The wife's 2001 T+C and our old 1994 T+C had same #'s, they're 3.8L engines but great pep also.

Genuine certified gas guzzler. I have a heavy foot and like to hear the headers sing through the Magnaflow. In a couple of weeks I'll have a Paxton Novi 2000 Supercharger installed. I'll see what that does to my milage!

Hey Iz. I get about like 9-10-city and 12-14-highway with an overall of about 12mpg. I dont have an overhead console but I sure wish I did so everything is done by hand. So far from a full tank with the majority of it being highway at 65-75mph the most ive gotten by the time my gas light went off which was with 5gallons left I had 272miles driven. Some of it was city but 90+% was highway. On the average with a good mix of city/highway im getting about 220-240 when the light goes off. If I ran it dry id pull around 300 which would be my 12 average. As far as a lighter foot goes in regards to improving gas mileage, I can honestly say I see no difference between two full tanks of gas if I go light footed or push it a lot. I end up with about the same. Only thing I can say is avoid all city driving and stick the the highway or get a honda(which I might do ).

:YO: a good example of what gears will do for you, I have the 3.55s and am in the 10.5-11 range. I need some 4.10s.....

 

The wife and I took our monthly trip to Kansas yesterday 650 miles RT. We make this drive in one day (stay for 2 hrs and return home), 12 hour day, used 17.6 gallons to get there 323 miles and got 18.35 MPG and that was with the new FastMan TB just installed 8/27. The Durango had GREAT preformance and I still have good gas milage.
Coming home we have about a 35-40 MPH head wind I'm sure I did not get the same milage (have not filled it up yet).

Yep, that's pretty much the truth. I've seen major differences in MPG depending on how I'm driving.




An update... I recently got up to 18mpg on the highway traveling from Chicago, IL to Ann Harbor, MI doing about an average of 65Mph using cruise control.

 

My overhead computer always says 11.1 - 11.6 average in my '98 D 5.9l. I have a heavy foot. I also have the Power Programmer III that gives me much more performance in 93 octane mode. I get Super for $2.04 at Sam's Club. There is a very noticable difference between regular and super when using a PP3. It feels like 25 HP more.

I can manage @20-21 mpg if it is mostly highway and I can keep it around 65-70mph.
In town I average @15-17.

 

Well went camping so did some hwy and my avg went from 7.8 to 8.2. Hmm I guess those bigger injectors aren't such a wise idea....but lets see what happens with the MSD ign box get here.... :IDEA:

This on board computer you speak of where is it? I just manually calculate my MPG at the pump with a small calculator. Am I missing something?

In the 1st Gen, there is a overhead pc, thats above the rear view mirror that handles temp, trip, avg mpg, real time gas consumption. I put larger fuel injectors in my D but waiting for the new ignition system (a Mopar Hi Perfom which is really a MSD 6AL).
If you are interested, you can search the forum, there are a few guys that have installed the overhead pc and put up specific instructions.
