I have been lurking here for some time now and know when I bought my 5.7L D there were not a lot of mods for them..... but damn!

They have been out for a long time now and I still never see any ad's for mod's be it engine/interior/exterior in the current magazines on the market.

For example I looked at "Truckin" from front to back at the grocery store tonight and saw ONE ad for an after market 3" exhaust for the D.

What GIVES Guy's?

The main reason is that 99% of the people that buy 2nd Gen Durangos are Soccer Moms that don't want a Mini Van! It's sad, but true. There are some good mods out there as well as after market parts, you just have to search or keep reading these borads. The guys here are great about coming up with ideas for their Durangos.

Popularity and sales dropped way off after the body change to the mini van look in the 04 model. It's economics less sales = less aftermarket

There's also the fact that the Durango and Dakota aren't compatible anymore, so we can't share as many aftermarket parts like the Gen1 Durangos/Gen2 Daks.

Steveomatic is right. I own a 03 and a 06 Durango. Most aftermarket parts were aimed at the dakota owners and the pre 04 durangos benifited from that. I originally gave my 03 to my 17 year old to drive but I took it back and gave her the new one. It just wasn't the same feel that I love about the Durango.

Aftermarket

There are a limited amount of aftermarket goodies available, however since fuel skyrocketed interest in SUV's wained. Mind you gas has come back down quite a bit (as of right now) but I think that hit the aftermarket pretty hard. People bought the big performance trucks and then wound up putting a ton of their disposable income in the fuel tank.

just think tho, if the new body style takes off better than the 2nd gen style, maybe they will make a plethora of stuff for them. we could probably use most of what will fit on theirs if the only real changes are the front clip. OTHER people might like it better because it looks more like what everyone else sells. more sales means more aftermarket!
