I have a 1999 2500 turbo diesel, the problem is that the wipers will not return to their down postion when turned off, they just stop where ever they are at when you turn them off. they work in all positions. whould a new wipeer motor be the fix or is there a senser for this. I couldn't find a diagram for the wiper wiring in the chiltons manual.

thanks in advance

The motor is probably fine. It is most likely the computer chip that is attached to the motor or the switch. I don't have access to a wiring diagram so I can't get you better info and let you know exactly what wire you need to check.
I have the same problem with my '96 RAM. I replace the computer chip but the same problem is occuring any suggestions, beside paying for another chip.
Same problem here as well, as well as the wipers stopping halfway through the up and down stroke.
Mine will start off fine, but then when I turn them off they will stop anywhere there like. Would really like to do the work on my own if possible hate the hourly rates at shops. Any suggestions, anyone. Don't be afraid to talk to a chick about trucks especially this chick.
WOW.. A GIRL with a TRUCK!!!! just kidding. I just don't have any informaion for ya. I have been looking for a good couple of months for why it does this, and noone seems to know why....
Do they stop at the same spot every time? If so that can be adjusted by the linkage.
mine will stop halfway on the up and down stroke, and then continue on in a second or two, and then when I turn them off, they either stop straight up, halfway, almost all the way down, or all the way down. Kinda irritating, but I have gotten a little used to it. Wish I could get it fixed though.
I think it could either be the switch on the steering column or the switch in the wiper motor itself. I'll see if I can find my wiring diagram.
Mine do that occassionally, only when the window is dry after I've run the washer pump. I just turn them back on, and then wait until they're in the down position to turn them back off.
mine will do it regardless..dry, drizzle, or monsoon.

I have the exact issue on my 1999 Ram 2500 V10 4x4. As others have mentioned, you can certainly work around it, but it annoys the crap out of me. I replaced the turn signal/wiper stalk unit, convinced that it would fix the problem. It didn't. Doesn't seem right that it would be the motor itself. I sure wish someone could share the actual fix.:)
mine do the exact same thing, they will stop when ever i turn off the switch, i have looked into it and i cant figure it out
bad parking relay in motor
I found this in my manual. It's the wiring diagram for the wiper.
