Whats a "U" code??

I got an enging light the other day, I did the IGN trick and the only code that came up was the following...

U1120

I am aware most codes are P codes to I'm kinda baffeled here, so i went to this site and found the following info, I don't know if I decipfered it correctly.

U = Network
1 = Manufacture Specific
1 = Fuel & Air Metering
2 = Fuel & Air Metering
0 = Total System

Anybody have a clue what the world is going on??? what I should look for?

Start with the key off, turn it to on and back to off 3 times, leaving it in the on position. It all has to happen within 4 seconds or so.

Your codes appear on the odometer.

Ahh sweet thanks...no need to purchase an obd 2 then huh

Its much easier to look it up with a code scanner...the key thing works about 1 out of every 8 times you try it, then you have to write the codes down and look them up.

Could you recomend a couple brands of scanners for the garage enthusist? I don't know one from the other and don't know if the ones at my local Shucks autoparts are worh a crap.. Thanks!
