If I used amsoil I definitly would not do 5000 mile oil changes. I'd be going to the 10000 mark. I go 4000 with dino oil. I've heard mechanics say that is conservative. More oil changes is more $$$ for the car business. I don't know. I just get more confused as I read forums.

And when you're using Amsoil, how do you change a filter at 10000 without changing the oil? You'd have to loose quite a bit when you change filters. I know all of it doesn't sit in the pan.

Using an Amsoil filter and the extended run version of their oil they say you can go 25,000miles... ehhh I dunno if I would do that.

I've never done a filter change without changing the oil.. so I can't say how much you would loose, I would guess atleast a quart, maybe 2...

i use 5w20 mobil1 full synthetic "extended performance" in both my 05 hemi d (with 76k miles), and my 03 elantra (with 135k miles), and soon my 302 ranger. it claims it can go 15k miles between a change. I change the oil and mobil1 EP filter at 10k. I changed my hemi last night at 9800 and the oil looked BRAND NEW.

does anyone use this? or know anything about it?

I've been running Mobil 10W30 (non-syn) in my 04/4.7L/74K miles for the past 20,000 miles without a problem. Since it typically stays hot day and night here in FL, I may switch to 5W30 around October see if there is any change during the winter.

How many quarts does everyone's D use? Usually it takes about 7.5 to fill mine to the mark on the dip stick. Does anyone know if the dipsticks are just too short and it's a bad design or should the D take that much oil? I'm wondering if I'm putting too much in and it's costing me some power.
