Anyone seen the new Mobil 1 fuel economy boost oil? I seen it yesterday for the first time. It is 0w-30 and says it exceeds 5w-30 for required warranty coverage. Thinking about switching to it, but my truck knocks louder with thinner oil.

Mobil 1 5W-20 100% synthetic is the only stuff my 06 Hemi (MDS) will ever drink. Dodge relabels Mobil 1 for the synthetic they sell.

Over here all the SRT4s are proudly advertised as coming with mobl1 from factory... no relabeling...

You must have more honest dealerships in Alberta. :D
My service advisor looked at me like I was from Mars when I told him I was using synthetic. He didn't even know Mobil1 made the stuff the parts dept sold. According to him, I'm the only one in town using it??????

On the "higher end" or "performance" vehicles it is Mobile 1 as OEM oil. Crossfires come with Mobile1 and I would bet SRT6 ,8 and 10 as well.

Ya.. all the SRTs.. (The 4 slipped in there by habit) I didn't look to closely at the Crossfire, all the Vipers over here SRT10 or not had the "Comes with mobl1 from Factory" sign on them in the dealerships

Went to Wally World this morning and bought me seven Qts of Mobil 1 5W20 and a Fram filter and changed my oil this morning in this outstanding weather we are having.

Am I the only one here to cheap and sticks with Dino oil?
Seems that way.. I use synthetic.. cause you can get an extended change intervals and it lubes better... I find it pretty much pays for itself in the end... sure it hurts when you go buy it...

Conventional motor oil can last longer than 3000 miles before a change. I'd say as long as 6000. Some have said longer. I take it to about 5000. Synthetic is excellent and it could probably go 8000 or longer between changes but I don't know that I would wait that long anyway.

Amsoil has some stuff they claim if you use their filter, change the filter every 10,000mile or so the oil will last 25,000mile.

Convensional oil I change out at about 5,000km, synthetic.. depends on the oil/driving conditions/winter etc.. but normally 8,000-12,000km. My dad went 45,000km on regular oil once.. heh yeah.. that didn't go so well. at about 40,000km he got some valve train ticking, at 43,000km he spun a bearing.. I moved with it like that... fully loaded the truck and hauled a full enclosed 18ft trailer... no probs.. just noisey... he put a new short block in it.. the short block never managed to get better milage than the engine with a spun bearing.

With synthetic, mobil1, I generally change the filter every 5000 miles and the oil every 10000 miles.

Amsoil have that same kind also, I think that that is the weight that I will try next time. I have been using Amsoil now for about one year and I am sold on the stuff. They said that the 0-20w is better than the 5-20w, I use the 20w in mines.

whats the maximum mileage you should have before switching to amsoil?
max? or min?

My D was at 60K miles when I switch it, my fifth ave was 19yrs old(only 50K mile though) when I switched it. My 83 Dodge D50 2.3L diesel was at 120-130K miles and about 24yrs old when I switched it(I mean to synthetic in all cases, not neccesarily amsoil)

Ahh my fifth sweats a little around the valve covers... but not enough I have to add any over a 5000mile interval..
