I went to my dealership today, looking at new cars, and asked the Service Manager how much to do my Spark plugs in my 08 Hemi Megacab. Without blinking he says: "$750.00". I looked at him with a YOU'VE GOT TO BE $H!T!NG ME" look and asked; "$750.00? Just to replace the Plugs? Does it include a full tune up, Computer upgrade and check and Throttle body, or anything?" He looked at me like I was an idiot for asking such a question and said; "No! Just the plugs." I just said, OK, sorry to bother you.and walked away.

I've done my own for all the years I've owned my truck(Original Owner) but I've gotten older in those 12 years of ownership and I can't finagle my way around those back cylinders anymore.

Is $750, the going rate nowadays just to replace the spark plugs?

I didn't ask. I sent a message to the guy I bought my truck from and is one of the Senior guys there now to ask him if he could explain how changing 15 spark plugs warranted $750.00. I've gone there for years and bought my 92 Dakota there and had all my major repair work done there. But, I think, that's about to change.

Man, that's a bit high. I've been looking for some plugs online too. Saw it costs around 70ish to 450 depending on the type (and brand) copper, iridium, platinum etc.

I hope at 750 they give you the best plug 😆

Labor should be just around 150.

Yeah. I bought all mine from Rock Auto and have had them sitting in my room for the past 6 months, waiting for my shoulders and back to get better so I could do the job. I wouldn't be surprised if, for the $750, they just put the basic Champion copper plugs in as were factory OEM.

Those aren't the same spec plugs for your engine. You have an eagle 5.7. Stock p/n for yours is SP143877AB, which is an NGK LZFR5C11.

Had a quote of $660 for a spark plug change on an '07 Dodge Magnum with the Hemi. These are the copper plugs that have a change-out recommended mileage of 30,000 miles. I purchased the original Champion copper plugs on Ebay for $34 - delivered to the house. Replacement for the spark plugs took me 1 1/2 hours taking my time. the plugs I changed out had 36,000 miles on them and barely looked worn.
I needed a couple of different length 3/8" extensions, had them, no biggie. When I had the first set of spark plugs on that vehicle changed out, the dealer gave me a "deal" of about $160. I had them change the plugs at that price. I showed the service person the original invoice of the $160 bill for spark plugs when they quoted $660. No reaction. Maybe the Cover-19 masks are also being used as highway robbery?

$750 is high. Did mine a couple times, the shop manual calls for 4 hour and it takes every bit of it. I like the NGKs. What ever you do don't forget the ant-seize and use a tq wrench..

LX spark plug changes are so much easier than in the trucks....just everything else is more of a pain in the ass lol

Boy what do I have to look forward to when I need to change out my spark plugs in my 2019 JGC Trailhawk? Kind of makes me want to bend over and back in the door at the service department. I'm sure glad that my 2500 Ram Laramie has the 6.7L IL-6 CTD
Cummins Diesel engine, but it costs over $150. to get the oil changed at the dealership.
I have a mechanic that was recommended to me about 20 years ago. I will talk to him next week when I see him.

NGK recommends NOT using anti-seize on their plugs.

Just finished installing plugs on the drivers side. I went through the wheel well since I was in there replacing the exhaust manifold gasket. I think that made it much easier. The old plugs had a gap of .055 to .057
Next week I will do the passenger side since I have to do the manifold gasket as well, the drive side manifold had one broken bolt.

I have an '06 Ram 1500 w/Hemi (270K miles now). It takes me on average 3 1/2 to 4 hours to change out the plugs. I could do it faster if I didn't take so many beer breaks. LOL!

$750? Back in '07 my dealer only charged about $275 to change the plugs - after that I did them myself.

Just had my plugs changed by my mechanic. He charged me $244 labor. I supplied the plugs which I got from Autozone for $45. Champion Platinum Power 3570's.

Well worth it! Getting to old to be changing the plugs for the better part of a day.

My 05 Ram 3.7 manual says to change plugs every 30,000 miles. I bought replacement mopar plugs that I believe were NGK Platinum. I thought I was going to change them. Ha! I finally had a Master Tech Mechanic change them at 130,000. The old ones, also NGK Platinum, looked brand new. He said these new ones come coated with anti-seize.

I put Iridium plugs in my '12 2500 work truck with the 345 Hemi about 75,000 miles ago (has 233,000 total). I also put Iridium plugs in my '12 RCSB 345 Hemi about 25,000 miles ago ( has 146,000 total). Both call for copper plugs at 30,000 miles. I don't intend on changing the Iridium till 100,000 as long as I don't have a problem. Nothing fun about changing them so I'm not going to do them for no reason. Been a mechanic for 45 plus years so I've tested a thing or 2.

Wow I definitely would take it somewhere else. I worked as a service tech at a motorhome sales place let me tell you I have no love for mechanics anymore I try to do all my own work. They pay there mechanics nothing and charge huge prices. Also do work that's not needed or claim they do and don't.
