The truck - 05 Ram 1500 5.7l 4x4 QC
The tires - P265/70x17 Goodyear Wrangler SRA

I am towing a Travel Trailer and want to beef things up a bit; actually should -- the stock tires are passenger tires rated at 2535lbs, I want to move to LT265's.

Can anyone make recommendations ?

Thanks !!!

if you upsize to a 295 70 17 Nitto Terra grappler, they're LT 3195lbs

and the 285 70 17 Bfgoodrich at is 3195

and they make the Rugged Trail off of the 2500/3500's in 265/70/17 in load range e 3195lbs

Doesn't Goodyear make a load range E in that tire size?

everytire I've owned from them is soft (I had load range E 305 50 20's) and wear funny

I like BFgoodrich and Nitto, Toyo's good too

Chauncy's recommendation of the Nitto 295 Terras is a good one but bear in mind that I've been waiting upwards of 6 weeks now for the NATIONAL BACKORDER to end on this tire. A container ship between here and the Far East is long overdue where I am concerned! I've searched all over the country and everyone I've contacted is out of stock.

Rumor, and I underscore rumor, has it that the shortage will come to a quick close VERY soon. I can't substantiate that one way or another, yet!

I knew about the back order, but he doesn't sound hasty or in a hurry hehe

your 1500 suspension isnt even rated to carry a heavy enough load to need load range E tires. why waste your money?

No problem Chauncy, I've been vocal enough about the freaking back order that it would be difficult for a Forum regular not to notice!

As Nitto corporate explained to me, they underestimated the demand for the 295 when they introduced it, hence the initial low production numbers and consequent national backorder.

Wheels are sitting at the Discount Tire my buddy manages here in D/FW, just waiting for the tires.

hummm ???!

2005 RAM 1500
SLT, Quad Cab, 4x4, 6.25 Ft, 5.7L HEMI Magnum V8 Engine, 5-Speed Automatic Transmission
With 3.92 Axle Ratio You Can Tow 8600 lbs
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating(GVWR)=6650
Payload=1389
Curb Weight=5261
Curb WeightFront/Rear=3075/2186
GAWRFront/Rear=3900/3900
Gross Combination Weight Rating(GCWR)=14000

Each axle is rated at 3900 max ... the above stats are directly from the Dodge Site. In addition, the rule of thumb that I am getting from the Travel Trailer forums is that P's should not be used when towing 5k or over. In addition the Trailer Life Towing guide says that 8600lbs can be towed with LT275, a typo on original post. Actually want to move ot LT275/ (70/60) x 17 E.
Im running into this problem because I told the dealer to take the 20"s off. They did and the stickers on the truck dont match what they put on which were P265/70x17.

The 265 nittos are also on backorder. It's been 6 weeks since I ordered mine and still no tires.
