What is the neon block used for in a RWD application? Did they use the same block for 4 cylinder liberties? or any other 4 cylinder RWD vehicles?

Liberty has a 2.4L NGC block. The transmission is the main difference. Why do you ask?


And no it would not be very easy to put that in a Neon.

I was wondering what type of tranny would work for a very future plan to use an SRT-4 engine in a RWD application. But I have been pretty much shut down on another forum. But I still believe that anything is possible if you set your mind to it!

The SRT4 tranny may be a good idea for you b/c of it's LSD (04/05 only) and it's equal length axles. It is a hydraulic clutch setup so just be aware of that. Any 1st gen tranny will bolt up; and they are cable clutches. Much easier to mess with IMO. You could always throw an LSD of some sorts into a 1st gen tranny.

I am sure you know about the available gear ratios and what not.

So what are you wanting to power with the 2.4? Little kit car or a conversion of sorts?
