I have a 1996 intrepid and on acceleration under load the car shakes. I have 190,000 on this car but it has just started this. It stops when you level off, and does not do it when traveling at a set speed. But when accelerating it shakes, does not seem to be cutting out.

Could also be a clutch chatter inside of the transmission. The friction plates within the clutch packs become worn, and sometimes chatter or vibrate when they are engaged. Like Mr Dodge said, check the driveshafts and front end first.

If those check out ok, try a transmission additive like Lubegard or Lucas stabilizer. I have seen them clear up chatter in high mileage trannies.
