I have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 5.9l and had transmission rebuild last year and transmissions starting to act weird. It will start out driving fine and it will shift up into 2nd gear and then back to first and it just keeps going back and forth. anyone ever had that problem? Transmission was rebuilt with a shift kit and new seals disc and bands.

You have a bad governor pressure solenoid. (sticking)

Is there any way i can test the sensor without dropping the tranny pan or no?

No, if it is doing what I call a 1-2-1-2-1-2 shift shuttle, it is the plunger inside the solenoid sticking from dirt. Seen it MANY times.You cannot clean it unless you buy the Transgo rebuild kit for the solenoid. But it costs more than a new solenoid because it rebuilds 6 solenoids. Plunger and spring to the right side of the pic below.

HIGHLY recommend buying the Borg Warner solenoid instead of Mopar, it is a lot better solenoid.
