Hi all:

I have an '04 Stratus 2.7L V6. I took the car into the shop today to diagnose (and hopefully repair) a small transmission leak I observed. I thought maybe the seal holding the pan together was going bad. But the mechanic told me I have a leak with my transmission cooling line and that both of those should be replaced. He also noted a slight leak with the oil pan gasket. Fair enough ... but the estimated total parts and labor would be $470.

My question is, I wonder if the transmission leak is actually from the fitting, not the line. Is it difficult to replace the lines and/or fittings? I haven't had a chance to consult my Haynes manual yet. I'm a little hesitant to replace the oil pan gasket myself simply because of torque issues and the possibility of leaks. Any insight into these two problems would be most appreciated. Thanks guys.

Matt
