I installed a tranny temperature gauge about a year ago and now it is acting a little wacky.
I drilled and taped the pan to intastall the sensor but now the gauge is acting funny.
Once and a while the tempgauge goes very high and then drops down to where it normally runs. It seems to do this if it is wet out.
I am wondering if the moisture is shorting out the sensor and then as it dries out it comes back to normal.
The other question is if the sensor shorts out sould the gauge go up or down, I always thought it would goto zero if it shorts out.
It is an autometer phantom gauge and sensor.
