Anyone know of a way to track down an old vehicle? I don't mean to sound obsessed, but I want to find my old truck. Is the VIN the only thing? Possibly, the same plates it had?

Vehicles normally keep the same plates, except when they switch states. You could find a friendly police officer (got any friends in law enforcement?) and he/she could run the plate number, or even the VIN. Not exactly "legal", but an officer could do it without problem. It would give you who its registered to, and address of the registered owner.

I would love to find the person who sold me my first truck so I could run him over...

Run the VIN through carfax. That will tell you the area it was registered in.
