I installed a set of W-rated tires on my RT, and had the tire speed rating set up via the StarScan programmer. The car still limits out at 128 mph, so that's not the answer.

we'll have to wait for a reprogramming chip for this, I'm afraid.
I still aint seen 129.

shouldn't be much longer...
(I hope)

I noticed that Hypertech's website is showing programmers for a few more Dodge vehicles. Hopefully the Magnum is next!

I got a ScanGauge by LinearLogic that reads all types of data from the OBD II. It auto selects the type of connection, CAN bus for the magnum, and displays 13 different functions as well as error codes. It can also clear the codes and turn off the "check" lights. I use it mostly for realtime Mpg. At $125, it has more information than the $630 electronics package. There is also a CMDS mode that allows commands to be sent to the vehicle. If a list of commands were available, it might be possible to change some of the operating parameters (speed limiter?), similar to what the performance programmers do. Just a thought.

128Mph???? R U SURE???

Zogbert, are you sure it tops out at 128mph.
How come I went 138mph the other day and it was STILL accellerating (no it wasnt downhill but on a horizontal straight!!)

So, I do believe its limited but it cant be 128mph unless your computer has been set at that.

Take care!

Matrix, do you have the Protection Group? I wonder if the 128mph limit is related to the conti self-sealing tires.

Not Sure

Not sure if I have the protection group. I just know its fully loaded RT.
I also know I went 220km/h (138mph) with ease and it was STILL acc!!

I dont know the actual speed as my speedo shows only 220km/h max.
This is the Canadian speedo face plate. I am soooo pissed that we have this when US shows 160mph.

No one has given me a decent reason for the different face plates.
Pure economics says you keep to one speedo plate.

Top Speed!!

I've topped my RT out several times. 128mph each time. The car runs up to 128 then it's like you set the cruse control.
Holy, so does that mean that Canadians, have a 220(138mph) face plate and can do it, and the American face plate shows 160 but tops out at 128mph?

Wow, thats irony!!!!!!

Also, I think there is something with my RT. When I tested all the RT's in my area b4 buying, they were all very fast etc etc but when I tested the one I bought, HOLY SH*T!!!! It felt this thing had a rocket engine.

Could the dealer have switched off limiters or there is an error on my computer that takes off all limiters? Why was there such a NOTICIBLE difference with the exactly same spec RTs??

Anyone want to give there 2cents?

Matrix,

Mine definately stops acclerating at 128. Did you ask a dealer to disable the governor? All the other folks I've talked to about the governor have the same 128 mph limit. It takes very little time to get there, in fact it just gets into fourth gear when it stops accelerating.

strange question and probably the wrong place for it but....

How hard is it to flash the PCM? If someone got a copy of Matrix's (or any other ungoverned) PCM could it be easily updated to other people's cars?

Scangauge

Magnuman-
Sorry for the late reply - I've been preoccupied getting my Typhoon exchanged for an Aircharger.
The scangauge gives actual air intake temp as one of the "gauge" parameters (it can show 4 at a time). I think it's pretty accurate, since it agrees with the DC ambient within a degree or so when the car is cold.
The other parameters are cool - rpm, MPH, gal per hour, miles per gallon, water temp, throttle position (%), load, manifold absolute pressure (PSI), and others I don't remember.
The MPG is interesting - it's consistent with the MPH and Gallons per Hour measurements, but I think it actually goes DOWN when the MDS turns on! I haven't done enough observation to say for sure, but I'm wondering if the fuel rate sensor gets tricked whenever the number of cylinders goes from 8 to 4. I do know you input the engine's displacement during setup, so maybe there is a correlation.
I'll be refilling the tank soon, so I'll get a comparison of the number of gallons used scangauge vs gas pump.

Hey guys, I was gonna do the full throttle "pedal to the metal" again today and go the full 140mph (220kmh) that shows on my speedo. Last time I did it I was still accellerating even at 220. Unfortunately/fortunately I have acquired a Escort Solo 2 radar detector and am not confident what each bleep means yet so I dont feel comfortable to open her up unless I know all is clear. What do you think would happen if I got caught doing 220kmh on the highway LOL?

Anyway, I am convinced now that there must be something wrong/different with my computer settings cos this thing goes like a rocket.

I am not a mechanic/hot car specialist so I cant help much with giving you settings etc. All I know is that this one is the fastest in town, I tried them all.

I looked under the bonnet (ooops hood and it says Hemi 6.1ltr SRT is that right?)..... Dream on... I wish !!!! HEHEHEEE!! No its just the 5.7 Hemi. But I would love to know why the difference. I went to the dealer and they also said they knew that (mine) was a bit different but said that every car is different slightly and that could be why.. but there MUST be something more scientific.

If there is anything I can do to give you all settings of the computer etc, let me know how to do it. All I know is I turn the key and make it roar.

BTW I STILL am not decided on a K&N Typhoon/Aircharger or a Volant CAI. Please can someone give total unbiased opinion which is best for the Magnum RT.

Please help me... I want to feel invincible LOL.

Respect to you all.
