It is time to put new tires on my 05 RT. Was wondering what size to go with on the stock 18" wheels? I don't want to go with the stock size(225/60-18). Would like to get wider tires that are about the same dia. so that the speedo is not off (slower or faster). Have been looking at 255/55-18 tires. They are about 10" wide and just a hair taller so speedo woun't be off. Will they fit in the wheel wells without rubbing? If so, how wide can you go before rubbing becomes an issue?

Seen a few guys around here with that size on, seen one with that size for a winter tire didn't seem to be a problem. Also had that size on the wife's Magnum only in 17" ran them till they wore out never had a problem.

tires

rule of thumb is if you want 10 mm wider..245 you have to reduce the aspect ratio by 5 so a 245/55-18 is the same diameter a 255 would have to be 50..a very tough ride...some tire web sites will give you the circumstance of tires to keep your speedo as close as possible

That is true, but most people who replace tires to go bigger choose 255/55/18s. I am in the same boat as we are getting new tires soon and am looking at options.

Diameters

225/60 = 28.62 in
245/55 = 28.61 in
255/55 = 29.04 in
