Ok for any of you that have tinted or are thiniking of tinting your tails here is a little bit of law for ya.

Reason that I am posting this one up is just so that all of you know what the law states before you start. I got pulled over for mine today because the cop thought that he could not see them good enough.

Oh and I got all this from this site.

Texas Laws

§ 547.322. TAILLAMPS REQUIRED. (a) Except as provided by
Subsection (b), a motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, pole
trailer, or vehicle that is towed at the end of a combination of
vehicles shall be equipped with at least two taillamps.
(b) A passenger car or truck that was manufactured or
assembled before the model year 1960 shall be equipped with at least
one taillamp.
(c) Taillamps shall be mounted on the rear of the vehicle:
(1) at a height from 15 to 72 inches; and
(2) at the same level and spaced as widely apart as
practicable if a vehicle is equipped with more than one lamp.
(d) A taillamp shall emit a red light plainly visible at a
distance of 1,000 feet from the rear of the vehicle.
(e) If vehicles are traveling in combination, only the
taillamps on the rearmost vehicle are required to emit a light for
the distance specified in Subsection (d).
(f) A taillamp or a separate lamp shall be constructed and
mounted to emit a white light that:
(1) illuminates the rear license plate; and
(2) makes the plate clearly legible at a distance of 50
feet from the rear.
(g) A taillamp, including a separate lamp used to illuminate
a rear license plate, must emit a light when a headlamp or auxiliary
driving lamp is lighted.

Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 165, § 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1995.

No I got lucky and he let me off with a warning. But I was real nice.....

I am not going to change anything though. I already have on order some really bright led bulbs for the tail lights. If that does not satisfy the cops around here then I will do something about it. But I like it and as far as I can tell from what I have looked up in the state and federal laws it is not illegal to have them tinted like I do.

As long as you dont go jet black you are probably fine. Mine are actually darker than I really wanted to go at first but I love the way that they look now. I'm just going for the brighter bulbs to take care of the problem. But I am sure that at least this one cop will be on the lookout for me.

Just get the FIRE & ICE light that hides under your tailgate... That way you can make it as bright as you like... those FIRE& ICE light bars are BRIGHT! And lingt up the entire back of the truck.

I have one. I even mentioned that one to the cop, he just went right back to the tail light not being bright enough. To bo completely honest I think that he was looking at my truck, thinking something like "This freaking punk little kid". Then he had to grab at something when he got up to the truck and found an ol sucker like me.
