I just changed the water pump on a 98 caravan w/3.0 I made sure not to turn the crank or cams while I had the timing belt off. After I installed a new belt, I rotated the motor about five revolutions and then went to align the timing marks again to make sure everything was good...the crank gear was one tooth off. When I go to realign the marks, will the #1 piston be at TDC everytime the crank gear mark is in line with the mark on the block? Or, do I need to pull the plug and check. Seems to me since the cams aren't turning with the crank when the belt is off I should be able to just align all the marks for the crank and cams and put the belt on. Any tips on installing the belt and keeping all the timing marks aligned will be greatly appreciated!!!
