Bringing this thread back up. Maybe somebody knows how the shift knob is connected and how to get it off? Is it threaded? If so, what is the thread size?

I tried to twist it off, but I don't want to break anything so I stopped. Thoughts?

Depends on the shifter type. Is it floor mounted, or is it dash mounted?

I assume he's talking about the floor mounted but I am not positive they are thread on? One would hope so!

Yes, I am talking about the floor mounted shifter for the automatics. They had to get the current shifter on there somehow.

ya I am not sure how those go together personally but these days they use alot of press-fit/adhesive to do things so who knows.
