CHRYSLER PVO SET; SRT RAM, NEON, VIPER, TOO
DaimlerChrysler has confirmed release dates for a series of vehicles from its new Performance Vehicle Operations group, which was launched in January. A spokesman for the Chrysler Group's new Performance Vehicle Operations unit says the first vehicle tuned by PVO, the Dodge Viper SRT-10, is now due out in October. The Chrysler Group also plans to bring out two more PVO vehicles next year: the Dodge Neon SRT-4 will debut in early 2003 and the Dodge Ram SRT-10 will come out later in the year, says David Elshoff, a Chrysler Group spokesman.

Everyone Thank Dom!

Everyone should thank Dom for turning me onto the info at another site that doesn't allow P.M. or I would have asked Dom's O.K. to post the info he found out. I went to The Car Connection to get my post rather than copying Dom's post at the site where they Chit-Chat about Mopars.

I should've posted the credit to the post to you when I posted it, so please accept my apology now.

Apology accepted...

Apology accepted even though I didn't ask for nor expect one. This info corresponds quite well with what DC originally stated at the official unveiling of the Ram SRT 10...that the Viper SRT 10 will be the first PVO vehicle available at the end of the year and the Ram SRT 10 'shortly thereafter.' Before you know it, we'll have pricing info and be able to see them on dealer's lots (Well, that's wishful thinking)!

Thanks,

Dom

i swear i read that it would come out as an 03 MODEL not in the year 2003 before christmas of this year. Im going to look for that info but im pretty sure thats what the chrysler spokesperson said when the truck was revealed. Nothing unusual and im not surprised...chrysler goes back on their word quite a bit. Doesn't really bother me a bit longer to save :D

Kirkyg,

None of the reports that stated it would come out this year were from DC; they were all from magazines, etc... DC has never given an exact release date, just 'shortly thereafter' referring to after the release of the Viper SRT 10.

Thanks,

Dom

yea i guess not...the wordings are sometimes confusing whether they mean 03 model or in the year 2003 which are two different years. I thought it was in the unveiling video but i listened to it and they really dont say much.

My best guess at this point is that it will come out in early 2003 as a 2004 model. This is good because I would rather they build it right and get the bugs out instead of rushing it and having problems. The lead time of probably 3-4 months of the Viper SRT-10 will also give the Ram SRT-10 the advantage of aftermarket tuners having time to work with the new 505 V-10 Viper engine and having adaptable add on mods ready for the Ram SRT-10 when it comes out. The real good news is Sean Roe Racing is going to be making a DYI (Do It Yourself) Supercharger System for the Viper V-10 for less than $7000 for at least 100 rear wheel horsepower and low maintenance for mostly street driving and some racing. Paxton is reportedly working on a similar low price (for a Viper engine) supercharger system. Right now 100 rear wheel horsepower costs around $17,000 for a Viper and you have to leave your Viper at the tuner's business for a few weeks. The Sean Roe system can be installed in a day by yourself or the mechanic of your choice.

I'm sure we'll all be coming here at DodgeTalk to the Ram SRT-10 forum for more updates. I will post them as I find them & make sure I give proper credit to my sources and I hope all of you will be on the lookout as well, and post your findings here ASAP.
