First off I have a 2003 HO so no CAT to delete. Now I understand most of you that have done this just use a 4 inch diameter piece of pipe (or at least you do for the cat) and a couple U-bolts (there are already a couple holding the muffler in place.) is that correct?

I've tried to get a good measurement under the truck but so far one man and a measuring tape are not having much luck, what length of pipe have you guys been using to keep the stock layout?

Do the ends of the pipe need to be flared or tapered to fit in the exhaust system or will just a plain jane piece of 4 inch pipe slide in no problem?

Thanks guys.

ok so 4 inch inside on one end 4 inch ouside on the other is right for the 2003's then? I just want to make sure when I crawled under ther the muffler fits over both pipes (engine feed and tail pipe) for the engien side it obvious flares out, but for the tail pipe side it doesn't, but the tail pipe has a bulge and then comes back dow so it is hard to tell if it has been tapered to fit in a 4 inch OD pipe.

anyone happen to know round aboutly how long a pice of pipe is needed if one were to do this the one made way? I'm about to go out a nd measure, but always good to have a second opinion.

Hey GOT DIESEL let me know how that delete pipe fits / sounds when you get it. I was thinking of going that route as well.

Sure will. It should be here today or tomorrow....

You know, on my 03 I swear that my tailpipe started out at 3.5" for the first couple of inches and then flared out to 4". I remember having to cut that 3.5" section off in order to put the 4" muffler on. Make sure you measure Valhalla!!!!

yeah there is a weird flare out on the muffler section, but for what it cost to get a muffler delete pipe I might not bother doing the home brew route.
