The hemi is a moniker for the Hemispherical shaped combustion chambers. Started with I believe the 392 hemi of the late 50's (on second thought it was even earlier than that). Made even more popular by the 426 of the 60's, and revitalized with the marketing of late. Only the 5.7 and 6.1 are marketed as "HEMI", but the 3.5 does have hemispherical shaped combustion chambers and is, by definition, a HEMI.
