TBI Sensors.

Can someone please list to me all the sensors I need for a 1991 TBI system on a 318? I have a computer and wiring harness and I need to know what sensors to buy. I am pretty sure there is not a crank position sensor but I would like someone to verify that please.

Also, does anyone have a source for someone or a business that can find me a chip or a program to convert the computer from a '91 360 to run a 318?

Finally, anyone have a good location for the thick gasket that goes between the throttle body and the manifold and what are those channels under the TB that it's sealing?

Thanks.

The TBI system uses a cam sensor in the distributor without a crank sensor as you thought. Except for the distributor and the coolant temp sensor all other sensors are on the TBI unit.

That's great news. Thanks.

Are you familiar with the control systems in the computer? Is the computer going to work as an engine controller only or will it need work to delete things from the harness so all i have to do is hook the engine up and go?

Also, did the system use one or two O2 sensors?

To the best of my knowledge it used a single 02 sensor (narrow-band) and also controls the transmission OD and lockup functions. Additionally it controls the charging circuit (voltage regulator), purge function (canister vent).
Also I forgot there is another input from the vehicle speed sensor which is primarly used for transmission control and a connection to the brake lights to disengage the convertor lockup and turn of the cruise control, if equipped.

Right now I have a TF727 in the truck so there is no transmission connection. Can the transmission functions be ignored and have it still function properly? I have been looking for an overdrive transmission out of a later model truck to install but I don't have it now and won't for a while.

Where would the speed sensor be located?

Thanks for all of your help.

The vehicle speed sensor is located on the transmission where the speedometer cable connects on most models, some are inline on the speedo cable.
I think the fuel injection system will function just fine, but it will try to send a "check engine" code since the rpm's won't drop when it tries to engage OD and lockup at the same vehicle speed.

I guess that would be okay or at lest it wouldn't both me, since I don't have a check engine light connected to the computer.

The Throttle body has the Throttle position sensor and MAP sensor(manifold absolute Pressure) housed on it. Also the throttle Kicker(stepper) motor, Mopar used this instead of of a Idle air control motor. You can run 360 TBI on a 318, You need to open up the throttle holes in the intake to accept the 360 throttle blades, also use a 360 computer SMEC or SBEC depending on the year. On the right valve cover there are 3 vacuum solonoids, Purge, EGR ,A.I.R.These engines will run fine without A.I.R. If you run True Dual exhaust the EGR won't work very well, they work on exhaust gas backpressure. only side effect to that is "spark knock" just retard the timing a little. You will want to keep the vech. speed sensor on it. The computer needs to know Vech. speed. This will set a fault and put the computer in a"Linp in mode" state. Open loop, Full rich. also helps when coming to a stop, preventing stalling.
The dealer is the only place I have been able to find the throttle body gaskets. It acts as a heat sink. Mopar runs engine coolant under the throttle body area, cast into the intake manifold. For better drivability on cold starts
