Does anyone have a schematic that shows the factory tach wiring set up? I happened upon a factory tach and would like to wire it in.

bherder gave me a good schematic a couple years ago, but it does not show the tach. I don't have a FSM and my Chiltons does not show it either. Just thought I would check here. Thanks

Anyone? There are about 6 wires coming out of the factory tach. I just need to know which one does what. Don't want to guess and fry the thing. I could probably figure out the lamps and such it's just the coil wires I'm unsure of.

Ron,

On page 8-135 of my '77 FSM, a schematic diagram for the tachometer is shown. Unfortunately, the '77 tach apparently used only four wires:

18 ga. white = ground

18 ga. black = signal from negative side of coil (goes through bulkead connector position #21)

18 ga. green = "ignition accessory" terminal from fuse panel

18 ga orange = illumination lamp (from under-dash harness connection)

Hope this helps!

Jeff

I'm an idiot there was only four, in which case yes that helps immensely. My tach matches that color code you gave. Thanks for taking the time to look that up. I appreciate it.
