how long did you guys wait to run synthetic? i have 12,000 on my 06 5.9, is it too early for synthetic? i dont usually run synthetic but thought i would give it a try. i do have 735,000 on my big rig which has an isx cummins in it but have always used conventional rotella. my first oil change was at 7000 and used rotella.

I'm a big fan of the synthetic. I personally run the Amsoil HDD 5W-30 heavy duty diesel oil - outstanding results for me. 7000 miles later and the oil is still cleaner, when combined with the EA080 Amsoil filter than any other oil/filter combination I've used.

2004 w/ 94k still running like a champ.

5w30? I have run Amsoil 15-40 and it seems good, you can feel how slipper it is if you dab some on your fingers and rub them together, more slippery then convntional. I've ran Synthetic for about 4 changes now.

My last truck 2006 5.9 had over 400k with Amsoil oil changed at 35k mile intervals. Waiting for new truck to breakin before switching to syn oil

I changed mine to synthetic today at 5,000 KMs. I'm using Mobil 1 5w40 Devlac CJ-4 approved.

yes, their HDD 5W-30 heavy duty diesel oil, it's the highest TBN diesel oil they sell.

I wanted something to run for 20k miles. I'll swap the filter half way through but the oil will go for a year.

You put 400k on an 06 all ready? DAMN! I thought I drove alot.

I switched over to AMSOil at 20k miles and change my oil every 12k. I'm sure it could go longer, but with the beating my truck gets pulling heavy loads, I change it sooner.

I switched to the Amsoil 15w40 around 30k, about 33k or so..

Read up on the Cummins website, they advise not to run a synthetic until at least 20k miles...

Cummin`s did say 20,000 thats when I did mine, its like an amsoil commercial on here, so yes I do use amsoil 15-40, have for the last 2 changes, I do mine every 10,000, oil, filter, fuel filter, and clean the air nano filter, works for me.

I've been running Amsoil since I bought my truck, only put 3k miles since first oil change. I like the look of my oil so far, but after 5k miles in my bros 03 CTD I am quite worried about Amsoil, after only 5k miles the oil looked totally broken down and nothing left. Going to have to get a oil analysis before I have any faith in Amsoil.

I'm not sure why you guys run 5w-30 instead of the recomended 15w-40. what does your deal say to that?
