I have a 1996 ram 1500 and the speedometer says 30mph at a standstill. It registers as you increase speed but, always says 30mph more than you are going. I also have a erratic temperature guage. It goes up and down and then registers right sometimes and does'nt register at all sometimes. I dont know if these problems are related but, I included them for informational purposes.

Oh yes, the speedo does go to zero when I turn the ignition off. It just goes straight to 30 when you turn it on and registers 30 mph faster than you are traveling.

then go to your dodge dealer and have em recal the speedo
