It's just an annoyance really but, is there a common fix for this? The speedo on my sons 97 Caravan Sport, 3.3L auto, doesn't leave the pin until he hits 25mph and continues to be off that much right up to freeway speed. We replaced the BCM last winter with a rebuilt unit and re-soldered the cluster back in the summer. This just started happening. Any help is much appreciated.

Since you mentioned that you had re soldered the instrument panel is it possible that you may have inadvertently raised the resistance of the speedometer area, the speedo picks up the pulses from the ecm to give you your speed, it may be you have too much resistance that it is not overcome until you hit the higher voltages at the higher speeds, and continues to stay off that much.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the replies. Too bad my son just got rear-ended in the van last week. Looks like a total :VHOT: . We had just gotten everything done on the van for the winter four days before the accident. He's OK though, that's the important part.
