Just bought a speed master distributor PCE376.1089.01 for my 1977 d100 with a 318. The rotor doesn't line up with the he slot for installation. I pulled everything out aligned with cylinder 1 but now when I install it points at the next firing position.

Did the oil pump drive lift up when you removed the original distributor, then drop back down a tooth or two off from where it should be. If so then you need to find top dead center , then reinstall oil pump drive and distributor.

Everything on the engine is perfect. I am talking the distributor itself just sitting on the bench. The blade doesn't line up with the rotor. Which I have been told happens a bit on aftermarket distributors? It's complete bullshit and the first time I have ran into it somehow.
