drove it the 15 miles home without much of a problem. the trucks super clean but pretty much the intire drivetrain is shot. the rear and transfer case both show signs of major leaks. truck goes in and out of gear fine, with alot of clanking under de-celeration, making the intire bench vibrate. sitting at a light the shifter its self seemed to shake pretty bad, but that was the only time it did that. this was all in 2wd, didnt even want to chance 4wd, lol. think this is a rear or xfer case prob? or both? where should i start to trouble shot?pics will follow after this is solved so i can wash it, heh.

transfer case ID time

ok, started calling around to yards to find a T-case. they said they needed a 7 digit #, which i dont see on the ID tag...... heres what i have..... model 231 D, ass.# 5210 5094, serial # 3 8 96 1, ratio 273, now.... none of those are 7 digits. did some searching but theres not much here, how many diffrent types are there and what do i have ? i want to place a classifield add but i dont know what to ask for, lol.
could be the u joints

if it sounds like two metal hammers clanking togeather when you let off of the gas in gear or when changing to reverse it may be the u joints. not an expensive fix.
