1997 Ram SLT 4x4. Friday the trans slipped out of 3rd gear on me a few times coming home from work. It has 84.000 miles on it now, but I had trans serviced back in November (fluid and filter change) because I knew these trannys like to croke at around this milage. Of course I checked my fluid level and it is fine. Actually, the fluid still looks new.
Before I go and trust a mechanic that may just tell me its shot so he can pad his wallet, does anyone here think this could be something smaller? I mean like a TPS, or just a torch converter problem? It still drives ok, just slipps out 3rd once in a while. It had been bumping a bit going into 3rd gear since the day I bought it. It didnt seem to be anything big. Funny thing, I just bought an old popup camper a couple weeks ago and this happens right after I pulled it twice.
I made sure I didnt pull it with the OD on too.
