Hello all,

I have an 08 Durango w/hemi with 22k miles on it and it will periodically make a grinding noise when going from park to reverse. There is absolutely no noise when going from park to drive and shifts while driving are smooth as silk. The noise is brief and not very loud but has me a bit worried.

Is this normal ? I've read that the Dodge transmission's can be kinda noisy and shouldnt be overly concerned.

Thoughts ?

Grinding is never a good sound. I would start off with checking your transmission fluid level. After that its a look at your synchros. Hope its the first one.

since you only have 22k on it. I suggest just take it to the dealership. should be covered by the warranty

With that factory warranty I would definately have the dealer check it out and monitor it if it continues. Sometimes they can't duplicate the problem and they'll send you home. But with a full warranty I would have it checked out by the dealer for sure. I myself have never had this kind of problem. I did have some hesitation going from reverse to drive about a 1/2 second but that's about it. :taz:
