Hi gang,

I have a 2000 Intrepid that has a shifting lever that has intermitent hard shifting. The lever is on the column. It is binding from the inside and I am afraid something is going to break. he car has over 156,000 miles. Any suggestions?

Check the shift cable between the column and transmission. It is probably starting to seize, pretty common on the older intrepids.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the info. It was the shift cable and bracket that were causing the problem. As a matter of fact, the shifter works better now than it did the day I bought the car. Probably was the cause all these years.

Have a great day.
