Scott and Terry Basom of Salina, Kan. were named winners of the Mopar Mile-High "Ultimate Fan Challenge." The Basom’s winning entry was a 10-minute video documenting their basement, which the couple has converted into a Mopar memorabilia room. The Basoms won spots as honorary pit crew members on Allen Johnson’s Mopar/J&J Racing team, among a large list of perks.
The couple is regular attendees at the Mopar Big Block Event, held each year in Golden, Colo. on the eve of the Mopar Mile-Highs. In fact, the Basoms were married at the Big Block Event in 2006, with former Team Mopar Funny Car driver Gary Scelzi acting as minister and current Mopar-powered Funny Car driver Ron Capps serving as best man.
"I’ve always been a Mopar fan. My first car was a Mopar and my last car will be a Mopar," said Scott Basom. "To be an honorary pit crew member for Allen Johnson, it’s awesome. It’s a dream come true."
