That's only 500 revs, could still be the lock-up. If it kicks in and out of OD that much, it has problems.

833 is a manual trans. Also, I bet what you think is the OD on your grandpa's truck is actually the lock-up in the converter. Unless your grandpa drives at like 45mph all the time :D Then it will go in and out of OD.

Also, remember on an auto you have converter slippage, which raises the rpm by a couple-few hundred rpms.

Speed Dragon: What size tires do you have on your '93? I noticed you have a 3.55 pinion.
235/75/15. Dunno what the rpm is on the highway as I have no tach, if I had to guess I'd say around 2500 at 70-75 mph. I can downshift to 4th at 70 and stand on it, and it picks up pretty good :)

Edit, found my trans ratios:

93/up Dodge
First Gear 5.61
Second Gear 3.04
Third Gear 1.67
Fourth Gear 1.00
Fifth Gear 0.73
Reverse 5.04

Using a calculator, puts my 75mph rpm at about 2200-2300.

Dude, go 3.55. You won't like the 3.23 w/ those big tires and the OD tranny.

I'd go 3.55 at least. I like the 3.55's in my '93, great street gear.
