Cannot seem to get a straight answer on how the self adjusting rear drum brakes operate on my '97 2500. Other than adjusting manually, do the rear brakes self adjust by using the emergency brake or while backing up? Please advise.:help:

they self adjust when you back up and hit the breaks, it takes a few hard stops in reverse.

Usually the brakes self-adjust when you back up. The best thing to do is (After making sure there's no one/nothing behind you! :ugh ) is put it in Reverse, get a little speed up, and stab the brakes hard 3 or 4 times, but not hard enough to lock them. That should do it. Hope this helps. :rck:
