this came to me today as it took 3 turns of the wheel to go around a corner. has anyone else ever thought about swapping in a rack and pinion? My truck the steering box is probably wore out as is my steering shaft, but i remember my Dak steered like a sports car and thought that would be great in one of our old trucks. As far as a rack goes the only one I could think of that would match up close enough would be out of a newer chev half ton (ugh I know but...). Another thing I seen is a steering box for a 94-01 with a 20:1 ratio. Could you make that work?

You must have manual steering. And 20:1 isn't a very quick ratio. You could probably do a rack&pinion pretty easy, if you have a welder and are good at fabbing things. Borgeson could probably make up a steering shaft to fit.

ha the sad thing is I have power steering, but the odometer has gone around twice and the entire front end is pretty tired and I know that's half my problem.
