There is a mid-seventies Dodge Ram for sale that I may want to buy for an engine swap for my weak 1988 Ram 100 v-6. First of all, could I swap a v-8 for a v-6 without any hassles? Also, how can you tell if it has a v-8 (special badges)?

No special badges....just pop the hood and look. You can also look at the VIN to determine the engine. There's a VIN decoder posted in the Vintage Trucks section of this site.
